Diet Stomach Flu: Food Options for Special Stomach Conditions
The stomach flu is condition characterized for an inflammation of the internal membrane of the intestine, and it’s caused by bacteria or parasites. Viral stomach flu (often known as gastroenteritis or gastric flu) is the second disease more common in the United States. It is produced when food parts or water which are contaminated, get in contact with an infected person. The best prevention is to wash hands frequently. Salts’ preparation -for oral rehydration- should be made following simple directions: an envelope of hiposodic solution dissolved in 1 liter of mineral water without gas, or one envelope of sodium citrate in half a liter.
An alkaline lemonade preparation can help too and it must be prepared following simple directions: to 1 liter of boiled water, add the juice of 2 or 3 lemons, a teaspoon of bicarbonate, a teaspoon of salt and 2 or 3 spoonfuls of sugar. When the first stage has been controlled (depositions must have a frequency of less than 3 or 4 per day), the solid diet will be introduced gradually, in small amounts to verify the patient’s tolerance.
